Remove a watermark from a PDF or Word document

Remove a text or picture watermark from a PDF or Word document you own, leaving the pages and their content exactly as they were.

Take a text or picture watermark such as DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL or a logo off every page of a PDF or a Word .docx file. The watermark is removed as an object, so the text, images and layout underneath are left untouched. Use it only on documents you own or are allowed to edit.

How to use this tool

  1. Upload the PDF or Word .docx file.
  2. Confirm that you own the document or have the right to edit it.
  3. Download the same document without the watermark.

Frequently asked questions

Which watermarks can be removed?

Watermarks that were added on top of the page: the ones made by Word, Acrobat and most PDF tools, including Fileixa's own Watermark PDF. In Word files this covers both text and picture watermarks.

Why does it say no watermark was found?

A watermark that is part of a scanned page is not a separate object, it is just pixels in the page image, so there is nothing to lift off. The tool tells you instead of returning an unchanged or damaged file.

Does removing the watermark change the rest of the document?

No. Only the watermark objects are taken out. Pages, text, images, links and form fields stay exactly as they were.

Can I remove a watermark from someone else's document?

Only if you have the right to edit it. A watermark often marks ownership or a licence, and removing it without permission can break copyright law.
