Compare two PDF files

Compare the text of two PDF files page by page and see every addition and removal highlighted in a diff report.

File A (original)

File B (revised)

Upload two versions of a PDF and see a page-by-page text diff, with additions and removals highlighted, plus a similarity score. This compares extracted text, not visual layout, so purely visual changes (e.g. color, font) with identical text won't show up as a difference.

How the comparison works

The text of both PDFs is extracted and compared line by line, and the lines that were added, removed or changed are highlighted, much like "track changes" after the fact. It is the fastest way to check what changed between two versions of a contract or specification.

It compares text, not appearance, so a change of font or a moved image is not reported. Scanned PDFs have no text layer and need OCR first.

How to use this tool

  1. Upload the original PDF and the revised PDF.
  2. We extract and diff the text of each page.
  3. Review the highlighted differences directly on this page.

Frequently asked questions

Does this compare images or formatting, or just text?

Just text — it extracts each page's text and diffs it, so layout-only or image-only changes with identical text won't be flagged.

Do I download a file, or view the result here?

You view the diff report directly on this page rather than downloading a file — the comparison itself is the result.
